Babies

A beautiful story of the first year of life of 4 babies born around the world, you watch them grow and learn, in radically different environments, essentially all the same things. Located in Japan, Namibia, Mongolia, and the United States, the babies have nothing in common except for the fact that they all must learn the same basic essentials - crawl, walk, talk, play, explore, etc.

Centered strictly around the 4 babies, the filming is spectacular. It creates a more personal feel for the viewer and leaves the sterile qualities of some documentaries far behind. The shots are close and really focus on the baby. There are no scenes of parents talking, no subtitles, no parenting advice. You are introduced to life at its purest.

I love when I have awesome friends doing awesome things!

Evan Bauxbaum's Buffalo Run Productions has put out some pretty cool short films and now a new feature length film called La Linea will be coming out soon. Its about the story of illegal immigrants crossing the Mexico/US border and looks awesome. Here's the trailor below:



Evan is the writer, director and producer all the films. Many of his short films have won awards at film festivals all over the country. Here's the trailer to one of his short films, "The Roofer" below.

Stranger Than Fiction Intro

This intro sequence is probably one of my all time favorites, ever. The overlay of graphics on video functions as essentially moving infographics. Since I am focusing on information graphics in my thesis, these sorts of visuals really blow my mind. I'm hoping to learn enough basic digital design skills to be able to pursue this sort of imagery somewhere down the line. For now, I'll drool over other people's amazing skills.
